AHMEDABAD HERITAGE CENTRE : A COLLABORATIVE BETWEEN THE EMBASSY OF FRANCE IN INDIA AND THE AHMEDABAD MUNICIPAL CORPORATION FOR THE REVITALIZATION OF THE WALLED CITY OF AHMEDABAD

  EXISTING ELEVATION
PROPOSED ELEVATION
AS OBSERVED THE NEW ELEVATION WOULD CONTINUE THE WOODEN FACADE ON TO THE MODIFIED PORTIONS OF THE EXISTING STRUCTURE. THIS EXTENTION REQUIRED COMPLETELY NEW WOOD WORK TO BE DONE, UNLIKE THE RESTORED PART WHICH USES SOME OLD WOOD ALSO. ONE OF THE IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF THIS RESTORATION WAS GETTING THE ENTIRE FACADE BACK INTO CORRECT PLUMB.
PANEL PUT ON SITE ILLUSTRATING THE PROJECT
A 3 FEET BY 5 FEET PANEL WAS DESIGNED TO BE PUT ON SITE. THIS PANEL CONTAINED THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT AND THE METHODOLOGY OF WORK. HERITAGE CONSERVATION OF THIS NATURE IS A FAIRLY NEW CONCEPT IN INDIA AND SIMPLE THINGS LIKE THE PANEL HELP PEOPLE UNDERSTAND BETTER HOW THE PROJECT IS DONE.IN THIS CASE IT WAS MORE CRUCIAL SINCE IT IS A PUBLIC PROJECT.
