HATKESHWAR TEMPLE
Introduction:
Many temples were built in and around Ahmedabad in Maratha era. Among these many have lost their original beauty due to many modifications and deterioration. Among the existing temples the Hatkeshwar temple of Visnagara Nagars , on the way to Bala Hanuman is a noticable one. This Mahadev temple is known after the name of its builder Amrutlal Tuljaram. The temple is an example of Maratha Era’s traditional Solanki Architecture. The temple is east facing. Surrounding the main temple are several shrines of different gods and goddesses. On the north face of the temple complex is a elaborately carved wooden facade , which has been damaged and has also been modified in portions. This wooden facade is in threat of deterioration and complete loss.
Financial Situation :
The following project is funded by the temple trust. The trust had made an appeal to the entire community to donate money for the restoration . The project is divided into three phases to enable a smooth financial transition during the project.

DAMAGED WOODWORK MAIN BRACKETS

THE TEMPLE IS ADORNED WITH SOME OF THE FINEST WOODEN BRACKETS IN THE CITY OF AHMEDABAD. AS SEEN IS ALSO THE WAY IN WHICH MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN MADE. HERE A BRICK WALL IS CONSTRUCTED OVER WOODEN BEAMS WHICH ARE SUPPORTED BY THESE BRACKETS CAUSING CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO WHATEVER WOOD THAT IS REAMAINING.

THE MAIN SHRINE IS MADE IN STONE . OVER YEARS IT HAS BEEN LIME WASHED. DUE TO THIS THE STONE CARVINGS HAVE BEEN EXTENSIVELY DAMAGED, ESPECIALLY THE DETAILS.
