AHMEDABAD HERITAGE CENTRE : A COLLABORATIVE BETWEEN THE EMBASSY OF FRANCE IN INDIA AND THE AHMEDABAD MUNICIPAL CORPORATION FOR THE REVITALIZATION OF THE WALLED CITY OF AHMEDABAD
 
 
FIVE STAGES OF EVOLUTION
A CROSSSECTIONAL PART WOODEN MODEL OF THE TANKSHAL NI HAVELI HAS BEEN BUILT. THE MODEL HAS TAKEN 18 MONTHS, AND 1,60,000 RS. BABUBHAI MISTRY HAS HAND CRAFTED THE MODEL IN TWO TYPES OF WOOD, TEAK WOOD AND SESAME (DARK WOOD). MS. KHUSHI SHAH HAS WOKED ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MODEL. THE MODEL USES 632 INDIVIDUAL PIECES AND CAN BE DISMANTLED ENTIRELY. THE MODEL IS BUILT TO ILLUSTRATE THE TRADITIONAL METHOD OF ASSEMBLING STRUCTURES. WHAT IS RARE TODAY WAS ONCE UPON A TIME A COMMON PRACTICE OF BUILDING. THE MODEL ALSO SHOWS TRADITIONAL WODDEN JOINERIES USED IN THE MAKING OF THIS PARTICULAR HAVELI.FOR MAKING THE MODEL A COMPLETE SET OF DRAWINGS HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED. A COMPLETE ANIMATION OF THE EVOLUTION OF THE MODEL HAS BEEN PREPARED IN AUGUST 2005, USING THE SKILLS OF DARSHAN SONI AND EKAGGRAT SINGH KALSI. THE ANIMATION IS DONE IN TWO ANGLES AND SIMULTANEOUSLY EACH AND EVERY PIECE HAS ALSO BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED INDIVIDUALLY.
