THIS
STEEL BRIDGE IS ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING FEATURES OF THE
PROJECT. THE STEEL FRAME IS INFILLED WITH WOODEN JOISTS AND
THEN WOODEN BOARDS. THE STAIR TREADS ARE ALSO WOODEN. THERE
ARE TWO LAYERS TO THIS BRIDGE. THE FIRST IS THE SKIN MADE
WITH CABLE AND HORIZONTAL LOUVERS. THESE LOUVERS ARE MOVEABLE
NOT ADJUSTABLE. THE ENTIRE STUCTURE IS DIVIDED INTO 10 PARTSAND
EACH PART HAS 15 LOUVERS. FOR EACH PANEL OF 15 LOUVERS THERE
ARE FOUR CABLES WHICH HOLD THE LOUVERS AND ARE ALSO USED AS
GUIDES FOR MOVING THE LOUVERS UP AND DOWN. THE SECOND SKIN
IS MADE WITH 36 VERTICLE CABLES, TWO FOR EACH TREAD. THE DISTANCE
BETWEEN EACH IS 13 CMS.THE CABLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH A TURNBUCKLES
TO MAINTAIN TENSION. THIS LAYER OF CABLE ALSO HOLDS TWO HANDCRAFTED
SINGLE PIECE WOODEN HAND RAILS, ONE FOR EACH FLIGHT OF STAIR.
