The
focus of studio IV exercise was to explore the relationship
between culture and space. The space to be dealt with was
the residential environment at the levels of an indivisual
house and a cluster of 30 houses.
The basic issues of site planning which called for design
consideration for vehicular access,parking location and access
to community space and response to surrounding development.
Design of a single unit evolved out of a nine square plan
with the central square occupying the vertical movement and
the rest of the spaces circulation around the central vertical
spine. The internal court here is a climatic necessity. The
site selected was in the town of Jodhpur in Rajasthan.
